2017 Ford Focus Review: Comfortably Sporty, and High-Tech

The 2017 Ford Focus is a comfortable ride that features sporty handling. It also has a lot of high-tech interior options. It is a great small car perfect for everyday driving.

Pros and Features. The Ford Focus rides very comfortably for a small car. It also feels very secure and sporty when maneuvering around turns. When traveling at faster speeds, the car remains relatively quiet inside. The best part about it is all of its upscale and high-tech options.

Focus is one of the oldest cars in its class with its most recent redesign back in 2012. It's been around long enough to know the ins and outs of a sedan and can generally deliver.

Cons. The backseat space on a Ford Focus, especially its hatchbacks, are very tight for most adults. The car also has very underwhelming acceleration, especially with the base 1.0-liter engines. The Focus EV's range and performance are also seriously outclassed.

Models. The 2017 Ford Focus comes in either a sedan or a four-door hatchback body style. There are five main models available, not counting the Focus ST and RS. The five models are S, SE, SEL, Titanium, and the Focus Electric.

The S model comes in a sedan only with 15-inch wheels, automatic headlights, and keyless entry. It also has other standard tech and safety features as well as Ford's MyKey and Sync voice controls.

The SE model is the base model for the hatchback. It has the same features as the standard S but extra 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, a trip computer, and other upgraded features. The hatchback version also gets a rear spoiler and a detachable package tray.

The SEL has 17-inch alloy wheels, rear disc brakes, fog lights, LED running lights, and other premium features. The top-of-the-line Titanium has a rear spoiler, an eight-way power driver seat, and leather upholstery on top of the SEL's features.

The Ford Focus Electric is only offered as a hatchback. The Focus Electric has similar equipment to the Titanium plus exclusive xenon headlights and LED taillights.

Pricing. One of the major downsides of the Ford Focus is it's priced higher than many of its rivals. The S Sedan has a base MSRP of $16,775.

Verdict. The 2017 Ford Focus is a good car. While there are a lot of other flashier cars with better features out in the market, Ford has a track record with this car. It's been in the industry pretty long and has learned from experience how to make a good car.
