Honda will be releasing their 5th Generation CR-V crossover. It will be most likely based on a new platform that would be patterned after the newly redesigned Honda Civic. Word has it that the 2018 Honda CR-V will be quite bigger compared to its predecessor.

Based on the spy photos, the 2018 Honda CR-V seems to look a lot sportier this time, it also looks bigger. On top of that, it has a more aggressive front grill and a longer hood. The CR-V's signature vertical tail lights are emphasized and it looks like it borrowed its headlights concept from Acura.

There's not much to be seen for the interior since these are spy photos and snapshots were taken from a distance. But based on how big it is right now, it is speculated that the 2018 Honda CR-V will be more spacious than the previous model. Images are leaked on this post, much love to the guys who did the blog.

Why is bigger better for the 2018 Honda CR-V?

The CR-V belongs to an ever growing compact-crossover market, and for the past years, interior space is a sought-after feature for these types of vehicles. Ford and Toyota with their Escape and RAV4, respectively, are way ahead when it comes to sales last year. The redesigned 2018 Honda CR-V will now aim to compete with its competitors to gain back Honda's former glory in the compact-crossover category.

New Chassis and Engine for the 2018 Honda CR-V

The current Honda Civic modular chassis will be modelled after the new generation of Accord sedans. With that said, it's more likely that the 2018 CR-V will also get a modular chassis patterned after Acura technology. The CR-V's wheelbase should also grow to match Civic's 106.3-inch wheelbase. It is also expected that the upcoming CR-V will adapt the current Civic's 2.4-iter 185 hp engine.

2018 Honda CR-V release date should be by the end of this year. Price is expected to be at par with current CR-V's.
