At the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, Chevrolet announced that the company is refurbishing the popular Chevy Traverse three-row crossover car. The company made different changes in the car's exterior and interior features.

Expectations are high and there are there are several changes in the car that people would like to try as reported by Auto Week. A hardly noticeable change is the reduction of the of the back cargo space by 17.8 cubic feet resulting to a 98.5 cubic feet storage capacity.

Chevy Traverse's reduced back cargo space of almost 100 square feet is, by industry standards, still outstanding since competing models like Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot have less than 85 feet of back cargo storage. Of course, the back cargo space of a regular minivan like the Chrysler Pacifica, with 200 square feet, is much larger than what a crossover car like Chevy Traverse can offer.

Many would like the 2018 Chevy Traverse to be equipped with AWD features and Chevrolet has equipped the High Country version with an all wheel drive twin clutch system. This is the same system used by many GM vehicles to provide power to all wheels when desired. The system can be shut off for the regular front wheel-drive only operation that saves fuel.

One of the problems of crossover cars with three rows is the inconvenience to passengers in the last row. To connect their mobile phone or gadget to a USB port, back row passengers usually ask the front row passengers to do it for them. Chevrolet has solved this problem by installing USB ports in all the rows.  

The 3.6-liter V6 engine used in the RS and High Country versions has been replaced with 2.0-liter I4. Although the 255 hp rating of the car is reduced by 50, it is compensated by the peak 296 lb-ft of torque generated by the 2.0-liter I4 and the savings in fuel consumption.

Optional bucket seats replace benches in the back rows and the car still accommodates eight passengers. The changes made in the 2018 Chevy Traverse are all for the passengers' convenience.
