Tech Trends and Update: CES 2017 Dell Canvas Topped The Smart Workspace Technology Category

Consumers, be on the look out for 2017 as Dell announces its biggest tech breakthrough yet with their Canvas. No, this is not a new PC but a monitor which can be connected to any PC. It's every artist, photographer or any content creators' dream workspace.

The Dell Canvas has a similar concept with the Cintiq 27QHD Touch and Microsoft Surface Studio. It is the current and most cutting-edge device in the technology of smart workspace category.

Described as the "horizontal smart workspace" by Dell, the Canvas is a 27-inch tablet display which can be connected to nearly any Windows 10 PC. It is not a substitute for the Surface Studio but rather a big display that adds convenience and meets the needs of many creative artists.

The Dell Canvas functions just like the normal monitor. It has a touch display technology but what sets it apart is that it allows multiple users to work on a specific project all at the same time with its 20-point-multitouch screen. It can be used and propped up in an angle or simply laid flat on a desk. The screen resolution is 2560 x 1440 QHD similar with the Cintiq but a bit less than the Surface Studio. With free hand strokes, users can trim and make other adjustments on their work. However, for better precision and imaging, artists may need to use the pen that goes with it.

The Dell Canvas introduced the "Totems", their version of Microsoft Dial where it comes with a main totem and a small totem. It interacts with the display once placed on top because they ran with the same API or application program interface. According to Dell, this will be available in the US by March 30 with a retail price of $1,799 which coincides with the release of the Windows 10 Creators Update.
