In this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) which took place on Thursday in Las Vegas, Arnold Donald announced a new technology for the company Carnival which will sail off in November this year. The Princess Cruises ship is the first line which will offer to every passenger an IoT-connected device to wear while cruising.

This IoT wearable device from Carnival incorporates machine learning and data analytics for cruise ship passengers. Carnival called the device Ocean Medallion. The ships will have the approximate size of a quarter and will weight 1.8 ounces. People can also pin it to clothing or people can wear it in a pocket. This device will allow people to open their cabin door without a key and it will contain their personal identifying information, Tech Republic reported. People who decide to try this new piece of technology can also pay for their food with it and locate their family or friends on the ship. This device is also easy to use since it doesn't have an on-off switch and it doesn't require charging. The medallion works with a network of 4.030 interactive sensors called xIOS. The guests will receive this device for free.

Like ZD Net reported, Carnival Cruise line will turn the cruise experience from supposedly fun thing to a personal compelling vacation. Not only it's easy to use, this device will make the passengers feel safer because they won't need to fear of losing their ID's or getting their credit cards stolen. The new Carnival's Princess ship will sail late in 2017. The newest equipment will be installed on other Princess Cruises in the upcoming 2018. The crew members will be able to personalize their interactions with the guests and it relies on two primary communication tools: standard BLE and standard NFC.
