Is The Chrysler Portal The Gateway To The Future? Tech-Rich Concept Car From Chrysler Unveiled At CES 2017.

The Portal, Chrysler's electric-powered concept car was recently unveiled at the CES 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The technology-rich electric mini-van from Fiat-Chrysler is reportedly aimed at the millennial generation.

The Chrysler Portal. The new all-electric concept car from Fiat-Chrysler was unveiled at CES 2017 to the excitement of the audience last Tuesday at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Chrysler Portal supposedly has modular components that are adaptable for semi-autonomous driving. Its features and sleek handle-less design are everything a millennial with a growing family would want in a vehicle.

The Portal is equipped with a dynamic LED lighting system. The LED lighting on the front, sides, and rears is capable of taking on different colors that can tailor for personal, business, and drive settings.

Other features of Chrysler's Portal include facial recognition and voice biometrics both of which enable a closer driver-vehicle bond and improved car security. It is can also be equipped with technology that can accommodate vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication.

As a minivan, it is tech-rich and flexible enough to grow with the family in this day and age. For instance, seats can be added to the interior when necessary. This makes it the ultimate family car as it is able to accommodate additional passengers and eliminates the need for a new vehicle. Passenger seats are flexible enough to slide up and down the full length of the Portal.

Stephanie Brinley, an automotive analyst at IHS was quoted as saying that "The Portal is our first indication of Fiat-Chrysler's potential approach to what the interior of a vehicle might be like for autonomous vehicles". The efforts of Chrysler are quite promising even if it is not quite at the forefront of tech-rich interior design.

The Chrysler Portal has a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery placed underneath the vehicle's body. It is capable of generating 250 miles of range on a full charge.
