2017 Mercedes F1 Car Launch Date Confirmed; Driver Line-up Still Not Final, Various VIP Access At Stake

Mercedes is the second team to reveal their 2017 Formula 1 car following Ferarri. The unveil will happen at Silverstone Circuit in England on Feb. 23. The current and reigning world champion team will reveal its W08 one day before their rival Ferrari takes its car for a spin for the first time at Fiorano circuit in Italy.

F1 teams are now eager to complete their adjustments to comply with the revised regulations coming for 2017. Pre-season testing will begin at Barcelona, Spain on Feb. 27. FIA testing regulations will allow teams to participate in two-car tests but should not be more than four days, in-between Feb. 1 and 10, before the season starts. This is why teams need to reveal their cars as early as possible so that they can test run in public and iron out any potential issues.

The Mercedes F1 team will utilize a filming day to test run the car for the first time on the English track. Though the team is now planning ahead with their schedules, the driver line-up is yet to be polished. Motorsport reports that discussions about a potential slot for Valterri Bottas, replacing Nico Rosberg as Lewis Hamilton's driver partner.

Mercedes Holds Contest for VIP Access

Mercedes also has opened up a contest for fans who will attend the launch event. The contest grants the winner VIP access, or become part of the team for the current Silver Arrow's Launch. The contest also assures the winner to be one of the first few people in the world to see their challenger 2017.

Winners will also be granted access as part of the Mercedes team at Silverstone to witness the 2017 Mercedes F1 car completing its first official first lap. This will be followed by a meet and greet with their official drivers. Facebook connectivity is needed to join the contest.
