2018 Ford F-150 Spotted; New Nose And Other Visual Changes

The 2018 Ford F-150 was spotted testing with only a slight camouflage on it that barely concealed some of its styling changes. The 2018 Ford F-150 is one of the biggest innovations of the brand to debut at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. It will have a new front grille styling, new headlights, other style changes and technological upgrades.

Just days before its presentation in Detroit, spy photographers were able to capture one of the test mules of the 2018 Ford F-150 testing on the open road. Ford did a great job keeping the visual changes of the new F-150 under the media eyes for quite some time now but this time, spy photographers succeeded to show some of its styling changes.

The spotted 2018 Ford F-150 shows a new front grille clearly inspired by the Super Duty version. It has two horizontal bars - rather than the usual three-bars found in an F-150 - crossing side to side. The grille doesn't extend all the way down to the bumper and its corners are more rounded, according to AutoBlog. The new headlights are also eye-catching with the center-most portions stretched closer to the middle.

At the rear, one can find more camouflage, which indicates that more changes in the back door and the optics are coming. Other developments one can expect in the 2018 Ford F-150 includes an improvement to the mechanical section, with improvements in current engines and the introduction of the new 10-speed automatic transmission developed jointly by Ford and GM.

The 2018 Ford F-150 will have a body made mostly of aluminum to lower the total weight of about 340 kilos. It will be joined by the V6 2.7-liter EcoBoost as the base engine, but will still continue to offer the 5.0 - liter V8 atmospheric, in addition to the 3.5-liter V6. The introduction of a possible diesel version was also rumored before the arrival of the already confirmed hybrid version, which will hit the 2018 Ford F-150 in a few years.

The 2018 Ford F-150 is the second iteration of the thirteenth generation that was launched in 2015. This model is the best - selling car of Ford in the United States, with hundred thousands of units sold each year and more than a million in 2004, according to Trucks.com. Although the crisis in 2008 and the dizzying rise seriously affected the model, currently, the F-150, like all other pickup trucks such as the Ram and Chevrolet Silverado, once again gained popularity and is the best-selling segment in the US.

The 2018 Ford F-150 will be presented in a few days although it will not reach dealers until a few months. Meanwhile, check out the video below.
