GAC Motors To Debut Three Vehicles In Detroit Auto Show; Trumpchi GS7 SUV And Two Other Models To Be Showcased

Guangzhou Automobile Group Company (GAC) is all set to showcase three new vehicles in the auto show at Motor City. At the same time, Aston Martin, Porsche, and Tesla may be skipping the Detroit auto show.

The name, Guangzhou Automobile Group Company (GAC) might not ring a bell to many people out there. GAC Motor is based in China and has been in the industry for a number of years now. The company has been selling Trumpchi and Gonow-branded vehicles over the years. Also, this is not the first time that GAC had an exhibit in the auto show at Detroit. In fact, during the past, GAC had a booth in Cobo Hall as recently as 2015, reported Motor Trend.

In the upcoming auto show, GAC is gearing up to introduce its latest Trumpchi, the GS7. The GS7 is a mid-sized SUV. It looks a lot like GS8 but it is comparatively smaller. The company has also reduced the number of seats to 5 instead of 7. It is reported that the vehicle comes with a G-series 2.0T engine, reported Ooyuz.

It is reported that GAC is now entering into the market with a new hybrid crossover concept dubbed the Enspirit as well as an electric car named the GE3. The company is using the auto show to display its vehicles for the first time alongside more established makers like Lexus, Toyota, and Volvo.

"We are very pleased to debut our GS7 mid-sized SUV in front of a global audience here in Detroit," said Feng Xingya, GAC general manager. "And we are really excited about our new hybrid and electric vehicles as well."

It is reported that the EnSpirit is a plug-in hybrid crossover concept by GAC. The company has kept in mind the millennial car buyers and designed this car to appeal to the people who enjoy diversity that a hybrid vehicle offers. To keep this view intact, GAC has brought in together the best elements of a sedan, SUV, and convertible together in one vehicle. The vehicle aims at fun and freedom for the buyers.

Additionally, the automaker is also introducing an all-new EV, the GE3. It is reported that the vehicle has a range of about 192 miles. The vehicle is made on GAC engineering's new energy platform. This platform is capable of quick DC charging and AC slow charging.

The GAC, as of now, has not entered the U.S. market. But when it does, it seems that Tesla has to keep an eye on it. Are they eyeing the U.S. market? Consumers will know more about it during its press conference in Detroit next week. As of now, drivers will have to wait and watch if GAC will succeed where other Chinese brands have failed.
