The New Volkswagen Golf Alltrack Vs Subaru Outback, Who Will Dominate This 2017?

The new 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack does it all. Alltrack has 4Motion all-wheel drive, off-road driving mode, raised ground clearance and all the safety and comfort technology that to be expected.

Volkswagen Golf Alltrack comes with 1.8 liters turbocharged TSI 1-4 mated to a six-speed dual clutch DSG transmission and 4Motion all-wheel-drive. Other off-road features include a front underbody guard and the raised four-wheel independent suspension.

Aside from that, an outstanding standard feature includes 18-inch alloy wheels with all season tires. The new Alltrack comes with silver roof rails and side mirrors. There is a new gray plastic cladding around the lower skirt as well as redesigned front fascia with a complete sharp looking matte-aluminum radiator crossbar and black honeycomb grille. Other features include bumpers, automatic headlights with daytime running lights, rain- sensing front and rear wipers, fog lights and a power panoramic sunroof.

At the drag strip, Golf Alltrack hit 60 mph in 7.4 seconds and showed sprint to the end of the quarter mile in 15.7 seconds at 86.7 mph and it stopped from 60 mph in 122 feet. While in the handling test, Alltrack lapped the figure eight in 27.7 seconds at 0.61 g average and pulled 0.81 g average around the skid pad. With its higher ride height and taller side on the tires, the slightly lower handling numbers are expected.

The testing was done on city streets where the 1.8-liter turbo four makes 170 hp and dual clutch transmission combo felt smooth, allowing the Golf Alltrack to zip easily in and out of any traffic situation. With its raised suspension and increased ride height the Golf Alltrack could pull off its best impression of a WRC car on moderate dirt roads. The Alltrack handles it all with enormous ease.

But consumers are more convinced buying more 2017 Outbacks with 2.5i standard AWD (109,448 YTD sales), beating the 2017 Volkswagen Alltrack S AWD (7,544 YTD sales). Subaru Outbacks still dominates this 2017 as a top choice for American consumers.
