Audi A4 Allroad Review: BMW 3 Series And Mercedes C Class Are Nothing Compared To Audi's Sedan

The Audi A4 is already the best sedan in its segment. And now, with its Audi A4 Allroad Quattro with 2.0 TDI 190 hp, its competitors like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C Class are nothing compared to it. Read our Audi A4 Allroad review to know more about it.

The battle to win the D premium segment has always been in the hands of the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes Class C. However in 1995, Audi launched the third of the contenders, the Audi A4. Since then, it has been cutting the distance that separated it with its other compatriots. But while the three models fight to win the top spot, the Audi A4 Allroad plays in its own league and has no rival.

BMW is reportedly planning their own off-road wagon according to BMWBlog. But until that, the Audi A4 Allroad is the best premium sedan one can buy.

Compared to the base model, the Audi A4 Allroad has greater headroom, plastic guards in the wheel arches and new bumper. The interior doesn't have a lot of changes but it remains one of the best interiors of the segment. The feeling of quality is great as well as durability. What is striking about the Audi A4 Allroad is the Audi Virtual Cockpit. The instrument cluster disappears to make way for a 12.3 inch screen with many viewing options and customization. It is a really comfortable and practical system.

The Audi A4 Allroad is available in three engine ranges: two diesel and one petrol. The powers range between 163 and 272 horses. The quattro traction comes standard for all units, as is the automatic transmission, which can be S Tronic seven-speed or Triptronic eight for the most powerful versions of the V6 diesel 3.0 TDI.

Driving the Audi A4 Allroad, the weight gain is remarkable and obviously affects driving according to Driving CA. The base model is more accurate in curves but the suspension of the allroad holds the car very well thus producing a not too excessive swing.

Just as excellent is the comfort of the Audi A4 Allroad. If there is something that stands out from the new batch of Audis it is the careful detail that has been provided to tune the behavior. The A4 Allroad is a very smooth, very comfortable car which can carry out long journeys without a problem. That same soft suspension affecting driving dynamics works miracles in an unconventional route. The bumps are not felt since they are damped by the tire and the suspension - a great job that brings out a very careful set-up.

The Audi A4 Allroad is a great car and is the best in its segment. The only negative point is its high price. But if one has the money to splurge, it is an awesome car to have in one's garage.
