2017 Lincoln Continental Replaces Lackluster MKS

The Lincoln MKS luxury sedan has had extremely underwhelming sales, delivering less than 5,000 units to date. However, the all-new 2017 Lincoln Continental will come in as a replacement, and Lincoln is staking its hope on it.

After a 15-year break in the market, the Continental previously made its comeback last spring as the automaker decided to revive it for a 2017 model. The Continental has been the company's flagship luxury vehicle for many years. For car buyers, there are lots of interior tech features added and several luxurious touches to its design, making it promising as a potential hit for consumers.

Every year, AutoPacific conducts a survey for new car and light truck buyers so they can determine what the needs and wants for a specific type of vehicle are. It is also to gauge what changes owners would want to see on their vehicles, and to compare what the pros and cons of having a vehicle replaced are.

The survey says 40 percent of MKS owners want more safety driving features, 36 percent want a simpler technology to use, another 36 percent want better seat visibility, 34 percent want a more unique design, 31 percent want more ease of getting in and out, 27 percent want more car space and 27 percent want more comfortability especially on the seats. The owners of the MKS are much more traditional compared to those of the Continental. However, AutoPacific's evaluations said that the 2017 Lincoln Continental will substantially improve on those items from the survey.

The Continental is the most recent vehicle released in the generation of new or redesigned Lincoln models. The Continental is a new entry that steps in for the MKS as the Lincoln president Kumar Galhotra says, "It's our flagship: it is the most significant step so far." The 2017 Lincoln Continental has a base MSRP of $44,560 and is now ranked No. 7 in Luxury Large Cars.
