Last Thursday, Audi gave us teaser imagers for its brand new full-size SUV, the Audi Q8. The images show Audi Design Chief Marc Lichte giving a taste of the company's new coupe-like crossover SUV. They will unveil the Q8 in the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this coming January.

As per Auto Express' reports, the Q8 will be based on the same platform as the current Q7 SUV and will get a full-width tail light cluster which is similar to the new A7 saloon. It also features a "unique front light design split in two." Taking a look at the beauty itself, the design study blends a coupe-like profile on a spacious platform that will result in a vehicle positioned above the current Q7.

The front end of the Q8 has a Darth Vader mouthlike octagonal single frame grille, which is considerably wider than the opening used on the current production models. It has body panels that display three-dimensional sculpted shapes. Audi says the Q8 concept is based on the design from the company's Quattro sports car of the 1980s, including the extremely flat but very wide C-pillar and prominent wheel arches, and will have four equally comfortable seats.

It seems that Audi is telling us that they are about to enter the full-size SUV market. But how much will an Audi Q8 cost? Considering the prices of the Q7 and A8 Saloon, the Audi Q8 will likely come above them at close to £70,000, according to CarBuyer.

No one knows exactly how those features are going to play out in reality, considering the teaser shots released by the automaker don't help at all. Recent Audi models have been accused of being conservative, with looks that barely evolved from the last generation. But whatever the Q8 resembles, it appears that the SUV will have an environmental conscience.
