The 2017 BMW 6 Series GT, formerly known as the 5 Series GT, was spotted for the first time dressed in the M Sport Package at the northern part of Sweden to test the prototype's ability to stand Europe's cold and icy weather.
It is not the first time spy photographers have seen the 2017 BMW 6 Series GT during one of its test sessions. For several weeks now, engineers at BMW have moved to northern Europe to continue the development of new models. The fact that mechanical and electric parts and, ultimately, the whole vehicle, can be subjected to extreme temperatures including snow and ice allows engineers to collect valuable information.
In these new spy photos one can see the 2017 BMW 6 Series GT, and although it seems at first glance that there are no changes with respect to other prototypes previously photographed, a closer look will reveal a very interesting novelty. This is the M Sport package, according to Motor1.
The front and side skirts have changed as the brand added a new camouflage with which to hide all body elements that make up the M sport package. Ultimately, it seeks to emphasize the sportier side of the 2017 BMW 6 Series GT as In the front bumper, where one can see larger air intakes while the side skirts are also somewhat bigger.
As for the mechanical section, it is expected that the range of engines for the 2017 BMW 6 Series GT will consist of a total of nine options. One can opt for both diesel and gasoline engines and three plug-in hybrid versions. The power range will start from 190 hp and the top end is fixed by the 465 hp M650i xDrive. At the moment there is no planned M version developed by the Motorsport division. However, the door to this is not closed, according to AutoEvolution.
All versions of the 2017 BMW 6 Series GT may be associated with the package M Sport as well as other optional packs Sport Line and Luxury Line range. Some engines will be accompanied by the xDrive, although the vast majority of the range will be optional, and each block will have a box of eight-speed automatic transmission.
Recall that the BMW 6 Series GT is the successor of the Series 5 GT. The change of name will be accompanied by a whole range of new aesthetics as well as technological and mechanical changes. This will be a more modern, efficient and advanced model in all aspects.
The 2017 BMW 6 Series GT will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will arrive in showrooms late next year.
