The Ford GT supercar has left the assembly line in Markham, Ontario, in time for Christmas shoppers looking for the best gift for someone very special to them. As one of the most awaited cars of the year, preorders were made several months ago: but not everyone will get their Ford GT right away. Preorderers who placed late will have to wait a few months for the supercar to be delivered. 

This milestone in the history of the makers of Ford GT was marked by the executive vice president for global development and chief technical officer, who drove the first Ford GT from the facility. This supercar showcases the innovative and committed people behind its production, according to executive vice president Raj Nair. The end result of these efforts is a supercar that has what it takes to beat all other super car brands that reign today.

Contributing to the speed of the Ford GT is the fact that the materials used to build it were mostly carbon fiber, which makes it lighter and therefore faster. Powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 600 horsepower and a top speed of 200 miles per hour, this can be considered one of the most powerful among all supercars. By opting for the rear-wheel drive instead of the all-wheel-drive setup, the Ford GT is expected to win the nod of car drivers, according to Top Speed.

Originally, the company targeted building 500 units of the vehicle, but due to increased demand, it decided to make 250 cars each year within a four-year period. This means that the auto maker will build 1,000 Ford GTs in all, according to Auto Guide.

Priced at $400,000, only very few might be able to give a Ford GT this Christmas. But for those who can afford it, even as a gift to oneself, it will be definitely be worth it.
