The finale of HBO's first season of "Westworld" featured several stunning revalations, answering questions that had long been on the minds of viewers but opening up a plethora of new ones. It does not seem, however, that the new questions will be answered in the immediate feature: Westworld Season 2 is slated for release in 2018. 

Although the season finale, entitled "The Bicameral Mind," provided answers to lingering speculation about what existed at the maze's center, the real identity of the Man in Black and the truth behind Arnold's death,  it also left several details up for interpretation, some of it deliberately orchestrated to keep viewers guessing until Westworld Season 2. According to TV Line, executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who also happen to be married, had to tread a difficult balancing act over the season. 

Nolan said that each time an episode went into the editing room, it was difficult to figure out when they were crossing a line in terms of providing hints to viewers. He said they had to get the balance just right between Westworld fans who wanted bread crumbs they could piece together and Westworld fans who would rather let the show takes its course without having to piece together the puzzle on their own.

Joy went on to confirm several things that Westworld watchers may have still been in doubt about. Felix is definitely not a host, she said, adding that the hosts that emerged from the woods at the end of the finale did not all have the same consciousness of Dolores. Joy also confirmed that Armistice would have a bigger part to play in Season 2. 

According to the International Business Times, Nolan said the show would not return until 2018 because of its ambitious nature, comparing it to "Game of Thrones." Because of this, he said, production and writing will both take time: but will be worth the wait.
