There's an abundance of controversial F1 news nowadays as Nico Rosberg shocks the world with his retirement just five days after he won his first F1 World Championship Title. Now Mercedes lacks one powerful driver for F1 season. But not for long! It seems that Fernando Alonso, currently with McLaren is set to transfer to Mercedes before Christmas.

Nico Rosberg Retires

It was the most talk about F1 News last weekend as Rosberg announced his retirement on his Twitter social media account. Nobody expected Rosberg to retire after a flawless 2016 F1 season which finally earned him his first title and leave Mercedes team mate and three time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton in second place.

Although it came as a surprised for many, the F1 news of Rosberg's retirement has been clear for the driver ever since Japan GP. According to the F1 racer, he had target the championship since he was 25 years old and had experience hardships and sacrifices to get it. So when he finally succeeded, he felt that his F1 vision had been completed and he is ready to resign.

Mercedes' non-executive chairman Niki Lauda seems to be having a hard time as recent F1 news reported that its other drive, Hamilton is continuously defying Mercedes orders due to his lost and now, Rosberg has retired.

Fernando Alonso News: To Sign In Mercedes

According to F1 news from BBC, Lauda wants to give a Christmas present for a lucky driver he wants to sign in Mercedes to take Rosberg's place. This driver seems to be Fernando Alonso whi aldo made an impressive performance at the 2016 Formula One. The Spanish rider has a contract with McLaren, but the seat in Mercedes team could be a temptation hard to refuse.

According to recent F1 News, Toto Wolff, director of motorsport Mercedes has already indicated that it will not be Esteban Ocon, one of Mercedes' reserves. The logical choice would be Pascal Wehrlein, the 2015 DTM champion with the mark of being a star and has played a good role this year in his debut in Formula 1.

However, Mercedes need a leader who can lead the team to Mercedes to new championships and also benefits the brand image. And there is no doubt that Fernando Alonso would fit into this philosophy perfectly according to The Sun F1 news. Wolff has never hidden his admiration for Fernando Alonso and is definitely leading the list.

Whoever it will be, Mercedes is expected to sign a new driver soon. We'll just wait and see.
