Italian engine maker VM Motori under the division of FCA presents their HFE (High Fuel Efficiency) pick-up truck, the 2016 Ram 1500. This EcoDiesel Ram truck is built with EcoDiesel V-6 responsible for its 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, making 2016 Ram 1500 an interesting pick-up truck one do not usually see in other big trucks. The EcoDiesel engine offers fuel economy with EPA ratings of 24 mpg, a combination of 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.
2016 Ram 1500 is a four-wheel drive pick-up truck with a 3.0-liter 420-lb-ft turbo-diesel V-6 that the driver can upgrade to a 5.7-liter 410-lb-ft V-8 able to tow up to 10,700 pounds. According to Green Car Reports, 2016 Ram 1500 includes a Selective Catalytic Reduction emission. This system serves as an after treatment mechanism wherein liquid urea solution is injected into the exhaust of the truck at specified intervals which split the damaging nitrogen oxides into nitrogen and oxygen. For an EcoDiesel truck, the 2016 Ram is manufactured with a separate tank for its gallons of DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid).
The HFE 2016 Ram 1500 can go from zero to 60 in just 6 seconds, a feat for an eco-friendly pick-up truck running on EcoDiesel. This is the result of an improved aerodynamic design which includes a grill shutter that activated at highway speeds. A ducktail spoiler was also integrated above the truck's tailgate which considerably improves the airflow of the Ram truck when on the road. Alterations were done to provide a lower drag during highway runs and better fuel economy.
The car company stuck to basic truck design, with an added twist. Running boards are present in the 2016 Ram 1500 design, as well as a cold-weather kit with a block heater. Gadgets include an AM/FM radio and USB input with no Bluetooth. A standard key opens the door lock, and basic truck standards were followed in the 2016 Ram 1500 which is built for the main purpose of an HFE pick-up truck.
