One Plus 3T Upgrade Revealed Months After One Plus 3 Release: Is There Any Difference Between The Two Smartphones?

One Plus 3 caused waves of satisfaction for buyers looking for the best smartphone released in the market. The year 2016 witnessed the release of One Plus 3, a smartphone packed with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow w/ Oxygen OS, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, expounded memory of 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, and a high-resolution camera of 16MP Rear / 8MP Front with a justifiable price of $400.

Digital Trends gave the smartphone One Plus 3 4 out of 5 stars. For a high-performing with half a price compared to its rivals with the same level of performance, the One Plus 3 model is quite a good deal. Five months after its release, though, One Plus made a questionable movie. An upgraded version of the smartphone One Plus 3 was released 5 months after, the One Plus 3T. Is this a good move by the company? In such a short time, does the market really need an upgraded version? Let us find out what alterations of the two smartphones are and which the better option is.

Let us look at their OS. Both run the same Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow w/ Oxygen OS, the size, weight, and screen size is the same with 152.7 x 74.7 x 7.4mm (6.01 x 2.94 x 0.29-inches), 5.57oz, and 5.5-inch AMOLED measurements respectively. Even the resolutions are the same with 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. Almost all the features between the two are the same, so what is the catch with the new One Plus 3T?

One noticeable upgrade is the processor. With One Plus 3's processor of Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, it has been upgraded to Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 for the One Plus 3T model. This may seem like a measly modification, but the limelight here is efficiency and battery life preservation while giving optimal performance, according to Forbes. Battery life is also upgraded from 3,000mAh to 3,400mAh.

Phone storage is now expandable from 64GB to 128GB. For the modern person hooked with social media, taking selfies is a must. What better way to capture the best selfie to post to the social media with an enhanced front camera with 16MP Front compared to One Plus 3's 8MP. They also added an 'Intelligent Pixel Technology' reducing noise when in low lighting, and a sapphire lens with upgraded EIS (electronic image stabilization).

One Plus 3T is obviously the better smartphone. It has the latest Android version, better front camera, and a quicker processor. It only cost $440, just $40 more than the previous model. But if you already have the One Plus 3, it does not seem like a good investment to buy the latest version. For those who are thinking of buying a smartphone, though, the better option is the One Plus 3T.
