Nissan X-Trail Upgrades For 2017: More Powerful Engine, Additional Developments And More! [VIDEO]

Dubbed as a testosterone-driven compact SUV by Nissan, Nissan X-trail's confidence-boosting powerful performance brought satisfaction to car owners and car enthusiasts of the Japanese brand all over the world. Nissan X-trail was designed to let passengers travel in packs, seating 7 passengers with its compact size. X-trail's 4WD smooth action lets the driver maneuver tricky turns and allows smooth transition which adapts changing conditions, a truly agile vehicle.

Nissan Motor Co. announced the conception of a more powerful engine for Nissan X-trail which is set to launch in 2017, according to Drive Spark. The upgrade for Nissan X-trail includes a new diesel engine packed with power set to increase its engine performance up to 187bhp from the 2.0-liter four-cylinder mill, an offshoot from the previous X-trail model's 1.6-liter engine. This upgrade adds more firepower to the Nissan X-trail.

Vice President of Nissan Europe East, James Wright, admits that the engine upgrade for the Nissan X-trail was brought by a strategic step to boost sales in competition to other big SUVs by other brands offering 2.0-litre four cylinder diesel engine which meets the Euro 6 standards. The upgraded Nissan X-trail was introduced to satisfy the demands of buyers and allows a richer feel to the model.

Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento, two competing models offering 7 passenger seats and a higher level of engine performance which can reach up to 194bhp from a 2.2-litre engine, also triggered Nissan's desire to upgrade the X-trail's current 1.6-litre diesel performance of 128bhp, according to Auto Express.

Nissan X-trails upgrade also includes minor tweaks such as 380Nm of torque brought by the new powerful engine. Aside from that, the new X-trail has a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox, a first in Nissan's SUV production. The CVT automatic gearbox provide two options, 2WD or 4WD, while the manual gearbox only has 4WD control.

Nissan X-trails upgraded SUV will launch next year.
