The Contenders: 2015 Lamborghini Aventador vs 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S

Porsche had their already powerful Porsche 911 Turbo S this year and got awesome upgrades. The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S is a sporty car with large dynamic capabilities and has years of experience in the market. Now it will be tested if it is powerful enough to face the ever reliable Lamborghini Aventador. The 2015 Lamborghini Aventador is the king of the range currently offered by the company, being more powerful and extreme than the Lamborghini Huracán.

The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S has a six-cylinder boxer engine and 3.8-liter engine thanks to a supercharger system that develops no less than 580 horsepower in its latest update. With these 20 horses extra power, the new Turbo S is able to complete the zero to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 330 km/h, according to Auto Evolution.

The 2015 Lamborghini Aventador uses a more powerful engine. In this case, we are talking about a huge atmospheric 6.5-liter V12 capable of delivering 700 horsepower. The declared officially acceleration is the same with the 911 at 2.9 seconds, although the maximum speed reaches 350 km/h, according to Car Scoops.

The Result Is In

On paper it is hard to choose, because although the Aventador is more powerful, acceleration times are similar due to weight differences. So the drivers of the 2015 Lamborghini Aventador and the 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S having gotten together at an event called Shift-S3ctor California Airstrip Attack had decided to lined up for a standing start and decide on a half mile drag race, which one is the fastest.

The Porsche 911 narrowly edged out the Lamborghini Aventador and had a trap speed best of 160.599 mph, with the Aventador having a trap speed best of 159.348 mph. The winner was faster by just 1.24 km/h (0.77 mph).

However, the speed comparison in this clip isn't entirely accurate from the market versions, since both cars had been gifted with what can be described as light mods. Watch the video below to see the action pack drag race:
