It looks like Hyundai is on a roll! The South Korean company is, without a doubt, one of today's leading automobile manufacturer and it is bent on upping the ante in the booming Indian market.
In line with this, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) recently announced that the company plans to roll out its 10 millionth car as early as the first half of 2021 from its Chennai, India-based manufacturing facility. It's worth noting that this is the same facility from where the company rolled out its seven-millionth car, the Creta AT, on Monday.
This has catapult HMIL at the second best position in the company amid its overseas compeers, second only to China.
What makes this feat more laudable is the fact that HMIL has become the country's first manufacturer to achieve this feat within a span of just 18 years of commercial operation, according to Business Standard.
The first millionth car Hyundai Motor India Ltd. rolled out was a Santro, back in 20016. They achieved this feat in just eight years after starting commercial production in 1998.
The production consequently switched to fast track with the next millionth milestone, coming within an average timeframe of 18 to 19 months. The five-millionth car was then rolled out in Oct. 2013.
According to HMIL Chief Executive and Managing Director, Y.K Koo, the company has been setting new benchmarks in terms of quality and customer satisfaction by offering bevies of new products, paired with the latest technology and design in the Indian market --- thus showing off exceptional manufacturing ability, CarAndBike reported.
Koo further added that the company's "Made in India" products have garnered commendation not only from Indian, but also from global customers alike.
Since 2004, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. have retained its position as the top exporter --- consistently for 12 years with a mind-boggling volume of 24, 64,723 until now. HMIL also boasts ten car models across various segments.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd. manufacturing plant currently exports to about 92 countries including the Asia Pacific, Australia, Latin America, Middle East, and Africa.
