Star actor Ed Harris recently confirmed that he will be back for the second season of HBO hit series, "Westworld." Harris, who plays the Man in Black, also revealed that the second season would run 10 episodes, as standard with most HBO programs.

Harris' character is sinister and ruthless. He runs a mystery foundation dedicated to curing life-threatening diseases in the real world while in the game, he is obsessed with finding the maze, as well as the secrets of "Westworld."

The news of confirmation must have come as a shock to those who have always assumed that Harris' character would eventually be gone by the end of season one. "The Man in Black," ever since its first appearance on the show, has become the subject of many arguments on whether the character was going to be short-lived or what-not, considering his number of cryptic references to death on the show. But it seems that the "Man in Black" is very much alive and ready for the next season, according to his interview on BBC Radio 4.

Given the confirmation, some fans were quick to say that the "Man in Black "might be brought back through flashbacks and memories, as we all know that one of the series creator, Nolan, often use the mechanism in his other works such as Memento and Interstellar. It's actually the usual mechanism that modern TV shows employ nowadays. To name a few, AMC's "The Walking Dead," as well as "Game of Thrones," have done it before.

Ever since the beginning, fans have come up with their own theories about the Man in Black. To name one, there is a speculation saying that the series was actually following two timelines and that William (Jimmi Simpson), would eventually become the Man in Black. Yahoo reported. 

The show plays around with timelines and the park has the ability to use people's DNA to create more hosts, so there is indeed a possibility that the Man in Black was killed off --- only to come back as a host.

Westworld airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
