The all-new MINI John Cooper Works Rally 2017 is developed as a cross-country rally car set to endure the long and arduous rally-raid in motorsport events. The production team proudly announced a better and improved development program that far exceeds the previous model.

With the result of extensive developmental changes wrought by years of experience in the rally racing field, MINI and X-Raid upgraded the MINI Countryman with requirements necessary for safety and current regulations which are laid out by the governing body of the motorsports, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).

Development and building process revolved around the key areas which the developers of MINI and X-raid deemed necessary in improving the over-all performance of the 2017 MINI John Cooper Works Rally. In Autoblog's report, key improvements of the new model involve better aerodynamics, upgraded thermal management, improved weight distribution, lowered center of gravity, a modified chassis frame design and a new engine mapping for long-range cross-country rally racing.
