'Stranger in a Strange Land' Development Into Syfy TV Series, Anticipated As the Biggest TV Event

"Stranger in a Strange Land", a science fiction written by Robert Heinlen in the 1960s is now being developed by Syfy into a television series. Syfy has been known for its futuristic and imaginative programming, making it an ideal partner for Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions for the said project.

"Stranger in a Strange Land" is the story of Valentine Michael Smith, who was born to scientist parents in planet Mars during an expedition sent by the United States of America to the said planet, according to Panarmenian. He was the only survivor and he was raised by the Martians. He lived like a Martian until he was sent back to planet Earth.

The TV series will show how he tried to adjust to life on Earth and to interact with people whose culture is different from his. An heir to a great fortune from his wealthy parents, Valentine Michael; Smith became a target of politicians and criminals. But with the help of the nurse assigned to him, he was saved from the powerful people who wanted to get rid of him.

According to Bonnie Hammer, Chairman of NBC Universal Cable, "From my point of view, 'Stranger in a Strange Land' isn't just a science-fiction masterpiece ... it also happens to be one of my favorite books ever," according to IGN. "The story is timeless and resonates more than ever in today's world. As a fan, I can't wait to see it come to life as a world-class television event."

Executive producers are Brad Fischer, James Vanderbilt and William Sherak of Mythology Entertainment, Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush of Scott Rudin Productions as well as Joe Vecchio of Vecchio Entertainment while Mythology's Julia Gunn will serve co-executive producer.

"Stranger in A Strange Land" will be the third project that Universal Cable Prods and Paramount Television will co-produce.
