‘Green Hornet’ Sequel Is Now in the Making; Accountant and Warrior Director to Give It a Magic Touch

"Green Hornet", a movie that was considered a failure in 2011 because of its astronomical production cost, will soon have a sequel to be directed by Gavin O'Connor, who directed the movies "The Accountant" and "Warrior," which have received notable reviews worldwide.

Although the movie earned around $228 million, the production cost of $120 million was considered too expensive. "The movie was made for too much money and a sequel might not be coming anymore," declared Neal Moritz, its producer.

Gavin O'Connor revealed that he has been running after the rights of the movie for 20 years and when it became available, he grabbed the opportunity to buy it.

"My intention is to bring a gravitas to the "Green Hornet" that wipes away the camp and kitsch of the previous iteration", he further declared. The remake will feature Britt Reid as "Batman upside down and Bourne inside out," he added.

Starring Seth Rogen as Britt and Jay Chou as Kato, "Green Hornet" is a movie that revolved around Britt Reid, a happy-go-lucky son of the owner of "Daily Sentinel", a popular newspaper in Los Angeles and Kato, his father's mechanic, who, after the wealthy man's death, decided that they should be crime busters posing as criminals. To attract the attention of a Russian mobster in Los Angeles, articles about the "high-profile criminal" called Green Hornet were published in "Daily Sentinel". The movie ended with the downfall of the Russian mobster and Britt and Kato planning to continue fighting against crimes.

Gavin O'Connor will be directing the sequel for Paramount Pictures and Chernin Entertainment and with Sean O'Keefe as the scriptwriter. O'Connor and O'Keefe have worked together for "The Accountant" and" Warrior" movies. With O'Connor's magic touch, there are speculations that the reboot of "Green Hornet" will be another big hit.
