Ardent Honda Civic fans, rejoice! According to an auto research firm, Kelley Blue Book, the Honda Civic has successfully defended its title as the best car to buy.

Although the Civic picked up Kelley Blue Book's Overall Best Buy of 2017 award, this is not the first time the small car achieved the honor. The car pundits at the auto research firm awarded the Civic this title last year as well.

The key determinant of the award included sales details, customer reviews, predicted costs over a five-year term as well as vehicle pricing, according to FOX Business.

The Civic's unparalleled comprehensive value is what encouraged the editors at Kelley Blue Book to choose the Honda Civic as the Overall Best Buy for the second consecutive year, according to the executive editorial director and executive market analyst for KBB.com, Jack R. Nerad.

Moreover, the car garners sky-scraping marks in terms of objective measures such as the cost to own and resale value. Nevertheless, it's still a notably pleasant car to drive every day, says Nerad.

The Honda Civic is available for a retail price of $19,575, the base price of the Civic sedan, plus destination fees. Honda also has a hatchback and coupe arrays.

If Kelley Blue Book's newfangled awards for resale prices are anything to go by, the 2016 Civic is estimated to hold a whopping 42 percent of its value even after 60 months. This projection is only outmatched by the Subaru Impreza.

Meanwhile, the new Civic Si is all set to hit the street next year. Honda unveiled the new Si just days ahead of the L.A. Auto Show, after unveiling the equally new Civic Type R at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Marketing Association) show that took place in Las Vegas, Ars Technica reported.

With the impending release of the Type R and Si, it looks like Honda has announced its return to the compact high-performance contention.
