Lucid Motors Unveils Its First Electric Luxury Sedan At The L.A. Auto Show [VIDEO]

California-based electric car company called Lucid Motors took the center stage at the LA Auto Show on Tuesday, Nov. 15 and unveiled their eye-catching electric sedan as CTO Peter Rawlinson explained why car fanatics should consider electric cars as the future.

Although the automotive startup showcased the camouflaged car, the company remained tight-lipped and divulged no specific details about the machine.

Nevertheless, rumors are running rampant indicating that the sedan packs a robust battery and that the car is smaller than its compeers including the BMW 7-Series, simply because it does not feature a traditional engine that takes up space.

The electric car is said to have an impressive 300-mile range. Moreover, it will be fully autonomous when it hits showrooms, according to Engadget.

The car was initially spotted when Lucid Motors shared its own photos of the vehicle positioned between BMW 7-Series and Mercedes S-Class.

The idea behind this comparison was to bring to light one of the company's key principles: a car that features a modest exterior footprint but boasts cabin space that is second to none of the conventional flagship sedan, CNet reported.

The photo indicates how the company takes advantage of the compact framework of an electric vehicle to amend how a vehicle can be shaped. The car still features a front end that protrudes out from the vehicle, but primarily supports drive motor and front suspension.

Under the hood, the car packs some cargo space just like the Tesla Model S; however, the front end is shorter than on the identical cars.

The battery pack can be found in the chassis, below the cabin. As compared to the BMW and Mercedes-Benz, the car's rear appears to be foreshortened. Moreover, the roofline remains high toward the back of the vehicle, thus making enough space for passenger headroom. Also, since the car is created for all-wheel drive, the vehicle packs a rear electric drive motor.
