2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV Goes As Far As 238 Miles On Full Charge [VIDEO]; See Price & Other Details!

General Motors' (GM) new all-electric hatchback is called the Chevy Bolt EV and not the Chevy Bolt as some reports claim.

Just days ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Chevrolet Bolt received the coveted Motor Trend Car of the Year award in an event.

The Chevy Bolt is not to be confused with the Chevrolet Volt which boasts a gasoline engine along with electric motors. During the same event, Mercedes-Benz GLC acquired the title of SUV of the Year, while the Ford Super Duty was given the Truck of the Year award, CNN Money reported.

The Bolt EV is not GM's first all-electric auto. The popular vehicle manufacturer has been exploring possibilities in the electric vehicles space for quite a long time. In their bid to experiment with electric vehicles, the company incorporated batteries into Corvairs back in the mid-1960s. But that's not all, in the 1990s; GM designed the extremely convoluted EV-1.

While an all-electric variant of the Spark is up for grabs at local Chevy dealers, the Bolt EV surpasses all models in its class thanks to its budget-friendly price and usefulness, according to MotorTrend.

The EPA suggests that on a full charge, the Bolt EV will travel up to 238 miles.

Chevrolet Bolt EV Price

After allowing for a $7,500 federal tax rebate, the Bolt EV comes with a price tag of $29,995. Before incentives, the Bolt EV is available for $37,495. Going as far as 238 miles for that range at that price, the Bolt EV is reportedly giving other electric vehicles a run for their money.

Rumors are running rampant that even the electric vehicle gurus at Tesla, have been put on notice. Apparently,it looks like the folks at Tesla will have to work day and night in order to match. In other words, GM's new all-electric vehicle directly challenges Tesla to come out with a Model 3 that offers same features and performance without a steep increase in the price.
