Toyota Corolla Altis Gets A Stylish 2017 Makeover

After three years on the market in its current generation, the Toyota Corolla Altis is getting a stylish makeover both inside and out to welcome the new year. Revamped LED lights, bumpers and 16-inch wheels are complemented by user-friendly features like a rear-view camera, three USB ports and a 7-inch touchscreen.

The touchscreen is compatible with both DVD players and the Japanese carmaker's T-Connect navigation and infotainment systems. The restyled Altis' dashboard has also been flourished with white tread seams and softer materials.

Under the hood, its engine is more or less identical to its predecessors: 141hp 1.8-liter and 125hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engines. The 125hp engine maintains the ability to work on compressed natural gas (CNG), while both engines can run on E85 gasohol.

The CVT auto transmission has also arrived with a Sport mode in order to increase its responsiveness, reported Bangkok Post. Using the paddle-shifters or gear level on the vehicle's steering wheel, owners of the upgraded Altis can still work the gears manually. Toyota has also promised a noticeably smoother ride after they retooled the model's suspension.

The new Altis includes seven airbags, which it has now updated to be the standard number. Toyota also employed Vehicle Stability Control to its updated model, said Carlist.

Toyota's latest Corolla Altis will be equipped with seven airbags as standard, a rear-view camera, three USB ports, a seven-inch touchscreen which plays DVDs and Toyota's T-Connect navigation system, to name a few.

Naturally, the Corolla Altis' price has risen accordingly, but it is arguably an increase in value given its new facelift. Toyota will be launching the vehicle in Thailand with a price range of 799,000 baht (22,000 USD) to 1.079 million baht (30,500 USD) depending on the model.

Although the company has yet to announce when the car will enter other markets around the globe, it seems the stylish new Altis could be the start of a bid to create more premium Corollas. Bangkok Post said sources from the company have promised a makeover for its Vios as well sometime in 2017.
