It was recently announced that the head of the SRO Motorsport Group will be attending the Australian GT Championship final round in New Zealand this weekend. Event coordinators deemed his attendance as a significant mark for the sport as he was a joy to be with during the Nurburgring event last year.
According to the Australian GT Championship, he had invited Stephane Ratel to the finale in the hopes of getting the fun experience he had when Ratel went with him to Nurburgring last year.
During an interview, he manifested that the head of SRO Motorsport Group was detrimental to the event has the franchise utilized SRO Balance of Performance system for its sprint and endurance races and the GT Trophy system which will be featured in future GT4 class races from 2017 to following years ahead, reported Motor Sport.
Ratel was also revealed to be visiting at Bathurst 12 Hour race, the event opener for the Intercontinental GT Challenge, and towards the Australian Endurance Championship at Highlands Park in New Zealand.
In other news, it was reported that Scott Taylor Motorsport's Mercedes was ruled out of the event. He sustained a leg injury when he crashed during the Castrol Gold Coast 600 and is currently in recovery mode. Although the car will return to competition in the Australian GT Championship race and the Australian Endurance Championship final round, the vehicle will be maneuvered by Crag Baird and Carrera Cup Australia race car driver Michael Almond as Taylor's proxy, reported Speed Café.
Furthermore, the Trass Family Motorsport Ferrari 458 GT3 driven by Danny Stutterd and Sam Filmore will also be joining the race after they had been withdrawn during the Hampton Downs 101 due to a suspension failure.
