Legacy Classic's Newest Old Truck: Cheverolet NAPCO 4X4 First Drive

Legacy Classic Trucks has given us the chance to drive its Chevrolet Napco 4x4 3100 series, a re-creation of the four-wheel drive NAPCO Chevrolet pickup produced the late 50s is the latest creation of Legacy Classic Trucks following Legacy Power Wagon which was created before it.

The North Western Auto Parts Company (NAPCO), a Minneapolis firm was established in 1918, it established a reputation for supplying four-wheel drive components during World War ll. After the war, when most OEMs were not yet building their own 4x4 pickups, the company transferred its expertise into building conversions.

NAPCO became famous at selling parts as aftermarket kits that were capable of upgrading a Chevrolet or GMC half ton truck to four-wheel drive. NAPCO went out of business in 1960 when a factory-built 4x4 pickups were introduced. After some time NAPCO was absorbed into the Dana Corporation and the brand died.

Autoblog reported that the legacy build began with a donor truck that has a rusted body panel Just like other custom-ordered restoration projects, it completely recreated the truck to suit the specs and requirements of it, customers. The legacy restoration build only uses best and modern parts for the restoration process. The restored Chevrolet features heavy duty dynamic ProRock axles, Dana 40 in front and 60  at the back, ARB locking differentials, 4.11:1 axle gears and a king remote reservoir shocks with pressurized bump stops and the brakes have four-wheel discs squeezed by dual-piston calipers

There are some visual lapses and lacuna that should be stressed out here. Firstly, the truck lacks chrome badges which leave the truck without an identity, there is no subdued jewelry distinguishing the Task Force design as one of the best truck designs of that time. Lastly, Legacy equipped the truck with a quad-pipe dual mode Corvette C7, center-mounted, a four-outlet exhaust system that overwhelms the entire rear view.

Chevrolet NAPCO offers GM LS-Series 5.3-liter V8 with 350 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Also in the list is GM's LS3 E-Rod crate engine, which delivers 430 horsepower. Old trucks in comparison with modern trucks are not that heavy and 350 horses are enough to carry the pickup vehicle around.

The interior of the pickup vehicle is trimmed in elegant leather and packed with everything necessary the modern market can provide, including a glide Industries bench seat, Air conditioner, and Nardo wood steering wheel.

The Chevrolet NAPCO just like other legacy truck is expensive with prices starting at $120,000. As optimistic as the legacy classic trucks want to be, it is estimated as stated by that the Chevrolet pickup is not likely to sell more than 30 per year but there is only on way to find out, according to Easy Branches.
