Battle Of The Builders SEMA Show: Top 10 Include Toyota Prius G

The builder of the Prius G, Gordon Ting of Beyond Marketing, has been selected to join the elite company of the top 10 builders in the third annual SEMA Battle of the Builders competition at the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. The Prius G is one of six "Extreme" vehicles that Toyota is featuring at SEMA. Gordon was invited by Toyota to challenge the myopic notion that a hybrid vehicle cannot be a performance car. Gordon built this vehicle to hold its own on a race track.

Prius G is a world's top-selling hybrid car, according to Toyota News. It has established a reputation for setting the standard for hybrid excellence. It is also known for its fuel efficiency and reliability. It pulled 0.99g on the skid pad during testing in the Southern California, which gave the vehicle the capability to challenge other high-performance sports cars on the racetrack. The Prius G features among other things a torsional rigidity, a lower coefficient of gravity and a more agile handling.

Prius G and the Corolla Extreme are the two Toyota extreme vehicles chosen among the top 21 out of over 200 vehicles which entered into this year's Battle of the Builders competition. Claudia A. Rodriguez, Prius Product and Marketing Manager at Toyota Motor Sales, said: "Having the Prius G crack the top 10 is a tremendous honor for Gordon, he is an incredibly talented builder and what he has accomplished with this Prius is mind-blowing."

The battle of the builders top 10 finalists will now advance to the next round where they will become judges and evaluate each other's vehicles. Judging will take place today, Friday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m., the Top 3 finalists will be announced at 3:30 p.m., at SEMA's Velocity Stage at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The ultimate winner of the 2016 SEMA Battle of the Builders will be revealed on Friday, November 4 at 7:00 p.m. at SEMA Ignited.
