2017 BMW 6 Series Or 8 Series Spotted, Porsche 911 Beware

Spyshots of the possible 2017 BMW 6 Series or the 2017 BMW 8 Series emerged as a test car was spotted testing on public roads looking with an identity that is hard to pin down as its size is closer to a 6 Series while certain aspects indicate an 8 Series. Whichever it is of the two, the Porsche 911 should freak out as BMW sets eye to competing with it and from the spy photos, it looks like it is on its last testing stage, almost near production ready and may debut early next year.

2017 BMW 6 Series?

Photographers have had the opportunity to capture a testing car that may be the new model of the 6 Series and aims to battle the sporty Porsche 911 and the Mercedes AMG GT. But it is not yet sure if this is really a 6 Series or an 8 Series, according to Caradvice.

A number of design aspects prove that it may be the 6 Series such as its aggressively sweeping roofline, its built-in ducktail decklid spoiler, its sporty exhaust pipes and wheels and overall sporty touches that indicate strong battle with Porsche 911.

The spy photos also show that the car seems to have a size slightly smaller than the current 6 Series but in reality same with its proportion. Because although at first glance it appears to be lower, in - depth look reveals that it is not so different from the current 6 Series, although there are certain levels that are clearly lower in this prototype like the distance from the lowest part of the door to the rear wheel arch. Although this could simply be due to a larger gate or drawn with other forms.

Base on these spy photos, we are looking at a future 6 Series coupe very similar to present a true Gran Turismo with a length that ranges between 4.8 and 4.9 meters.

2017 BMW 8 Series?

Still remember the BMW 8 Series released on 1989? This luxury coupe is said to be back on before 2020 by internal sources in BMW and the recently spy photo may just be it. Although the testing car is small and the 8 Series should be large as it should be luxurious, it's long the rear end seems to indicate a more luxurious grand tourer, much like an 8 Series, according to BMWBlog.

Whether this spied car is the 2017 BMW 6 Series or the 2017 BMW 8 Series, BMW has been clear to their intent that this new coupe will stand against the Porsche 911. It would be smaller and lighter in size and will be as powerful as the 911. However, BMW should also think of future huge competitors to come such as the future Toyota Supra and the BMW Z5. Both expected to launch next year.
