SEMA 2016 Updates: Toyota Rocks With 220 MPH, 2000 Horse Power Toyota Land Cruiser.

Toyota has not relented on their efforts in building high-tech trucks and SUV, This time, the Toyota Land Speed Cruiser, which is set to become the world's fastest SUV, debuted at Toyota's 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show on November 1.

On the exterior, the land speed cruiser has a rugged appearance. Chuck Wade, the motorsport technical manager, said: "From the outside, the Land Speed Cruiser appears quite normal, quite subtle."  He went on to say that the land speed cruiser is special because every single system and component has been touched. He said the trick is getting the body back onto the heavily modified frame.

The Toyota land speed cruiser is featured with 3UR-FE 5.7-liter V8. A "volleyball-sized Garrett turbocharger flanks" on each side of cylinders and breathes directly through front inlets in the specially designed aerodynamic hood to keep the vehicle rooted to the ground at high speeds. The engine is linked to an ATI transmission. The land speed cruiser is capable of  generating more than 2,000 horsepower and a top speed of 220 mph.

Toyota at the SEMA show also revealed is pickup truck Tacoma TRD Pro RACE Truck which will compete in the 2017 Mint 400 race at SEMA. The Tacoma TRD Pro features a 3.5-liter Atkinson-cycle V6 that sends power to all four wheels to handle the race's tough terrain. The truck was fitted with 2.5-inch coil overs from Fox, Multi-Terrain select, and a Crawl Control, to enable it to handle tough terrain.

According to Autoblog, Steve Appelbaum, Toyota Motor Sales national engagement marketing manager said: "With the Land Speed Cruiser, we are breaking all of the normal conventions of what an SUV should be, this vehicle is truly a feat of engineering." Toyota modified four other vehicles namely: The Prius G Extreme, two-door XTREME Corolla, Toyota Motorsport GmbH GT86 CS-Cup, Extreme Sienna.

It is reported that Wade said he love the challenge of taking a vehicle and making it stronger, faster, he said making something beyond outrageous keeps him coming back for more, according to Toyota News.
