Amazon Streaming Music: Company Joins Battle With Launch of Amazon Music Unlimited

Amazon finally bites into the competition of online music streaming services with the announcement of their own platform, Amazon Music Unlimited.

According to The Verge, the service will be essentially similar to existing streaming apps like Spotify, Google Play Music, and Apple Music but the company has stressed that it will come with nifty, innovative features that will make music lovers reconsider.

For starters, Amazon Music Unlimited is priced competitively lower than its contemporaries. Amazon Prime members can avail of the service for as low as $6.58 per month which is cheaper than what the other platforms offer. They are also offering family-based plans with a monthly rate of $14.99 or $149 for an annual arrangement.

Those who have been using Amazon Echo, the company's signature speakers, can also avail of exclusive offers starting with a monthly subscription of as low as $3.99.

Alexa, Amazon Echo's built-in voice instruction mechanism, will also be integrated into Amazon Music Unlimited. Techcrunch reports that Alexa can offer a more personalized mode of streaming music by playing content that is based on your preferences. For example, if you have queued upbeat, dance music on your device prior, Alexa would automatically pull out similar songs from the platform's database and have them played for you.

Another Echo exclusive is called Side-by-Sides, a feature which will integrate artist commentaries on selected tracks allowing users to have a more personal connection with the tracks that they are listening to. According to the company, Side-by-Sides will be available for artists ranging from Sting, Norah Jones, The Chainsmokers, and a whole lot more.

Amazon Music Unlimited boasts at least two million songs in their service. They have also tapped major music labels such as Universal Music, Sony, and Warner for their track catalogs as well as other emerging independent labels for more exclusive content. The service is also downloadable as an app for iOS and Android as well as for desktop users.
