Jeep Wrangler Pick-up To Arrive In 2018, Will IT Be The Land Rover Defender Killer?

A Jeep Wrangler Pickup is in the works and is expected to arrive on 2018. The total renovation of Jeep's flagship car is expected to gather a lot of attention and sales and Jeep is not stopping there as they plan to launch more models.

Confirmed! A Pickup Is On Its Way

Confirmed! Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat-Chrysler, announced himself that the Jeep Wrangler Pickup will be marketed possibly late 2017 or early 2018 together with the new generation of the Jeep Wrangler which is rumored to be lighter than the current model - about 200 kg less - by using a diffuse aluminum platform.

"We found a solution that accommodates a lot of interest and request of the fans so that they can move some products using the Jeep. It may not be a car with large sales figures but is definitely be a lifestyle model," said Marchionne.

And although he gave no details first thing he said was that it would be based on the Jeep Wrangler .

In addition, some new spy photos that publish our friends Carbuzz on this link, show that the project is well under way. Despite the deep camouflage showing the photos (which, incidentally, appear to be made by a drone), you can see the final forms of the might be Jeep Wrangler Pickup.

It seems to be based on the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited four - door, and has a huge back with plenty of cargo space. The new pick-up brand, codenamed JL, may be mounted on a brand new chassis and a mechanical four - cylinder turbocharged 2.0 and 3.6 - liter V6. There are also rumors that it could post a plug -in hybrid model. It will use many elements of aluminum to save weight and therefore fuel. That same chassis will be used to build the new Jeep Wrangler, whose internal code is JT.

Jeep Widening Its Horizon

Jeep officials confirmed that the company is undergoing a strategic marketing plan that includes two million vehicles a year worldwide for the year 2018, compared to 1.45 million units expected to be manufactured this year. To achieve this goal, Jeep plans to expand its product range and get out of its comfort zone.

Jeep will introduce new models on the market soon like the Jeep Wrangler Pickup which will play a very important part in their marketing plan as well as the new Compass, which is manufactured in Brazil and whose first units will go on sale in North America in early 2017. Also to launch is a model smaller than the Renegade who is doing well in sales today and a new SUV above the Grand Cherokee.
