Singer Solange makes a career-defining accomplishment as her new albums lands on the top spot of the Billboard charts.

'A Seat at the Table', the singer's third full-length album since 2008's 'Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams' debuts atop the Billboard 200 chart week ending October 6. She edges out Bon Iver's '22, A Million' which was actually expected to grab the number one spot on the said chart.

Solange's album was able to garner 72,000 total units sold (including equivalent album units), a number which is extremely close with Iver's sales which clocked in at 71,000. According to Billboard, forecasts for 'A Seat at the Table' were estimated at around 60,000 first-week sales which were still predicted to be behind Iver's.

The "Losing You" singer raked in a lot of traction in terms of streaming which helped her edge out Iver in the said neck-on-neck battle.  'A Seat at the Table' was only behind Drake's 'Views' for the most streamed album during the week ending October 6 with at least 35.7 million on-demand streams.

Converting to equivalent album units, this is an additional 24,000 units on top of the singer's traditional album sales. This is twice the amount as of Iver's with 12,000 equivalent album units based off from streaming.

With the younger Knowles finally topping the Billboard 200, the siblings have achieved another historic feat for musician-siblings on the charts, Rolling Stone reports.

Both Solange and Beyonce join esteemed artists such as Michael and Janet Jackson as well as Master P and Silkk the Shocker for having respective albums that topped the Billboard charts for the same year. Beyonce earlier snatched her sixth number one album with 'Lemonade' released earlier this year.

The last time this happened was in 2001 when Janet Jackson rose to the top of the charts with her seventh album 'All for You' (released in April) which was followed by Michael's 'Invincible' reaching number one on October of the said year.
