Jack Beckman's 2016 Dodge Charger Wins Championship Chase Round 2

Jack Beckman claimed the champion title for the Championship Chase round 2 with his Don Schumacher 2016 Dodge Charger. The 2016 Mello Yello NHRA Drag Racing season two was, in fact, dominated by Dodge Charger funny cars while the Chevrolet models fell behind.

This past weekend, the 2nd event in the 6-race Countdown to the Championship at Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis, Missouri occurred. With only five races left in the season, Jack Beckman finished as the champ with his Don Schumacher 2016 Dodge Charger Funny Car class.

As reported by Torque News, Beckman was able to dominate the first 18 races of the event while Tommy Johnson, Jr. lost to John Force in the first race of the 10-driver championship battle held in Charlotte, North Carolina. Although Force won in Charlotte, Beckman's Don Schumacher 2016 Dodge Charger did serve the team well and avenged the previous loss.

The Race Results

The Mopar teams did not get the start that they wanted out of the season. In fact, Beckman himself was placed at the 12th rank in their early run. However, as the race went into round two, Beckman and his Don Schumacher 2016 Dodge Charger claimed the second spot. By the third round, Beckman retained their positions while the rest of the Don Schumacher 2016 Dodge Charger funny cars were all ranked in the top spots. In fact, Matt Hagan's was considered as the strongest DSR Charger way back in the first round.

By the end of the race, Beckman finished first while his teammate Ron Capps placed second.

The Specs

With respect to the make and model of the reigning 2016 Dodge Charger, Dodge reported that the purchasable automobile has a maximum horsepower of 370 hp and is able to generate 395 lb-ft. Furthermore, it is powered a 5.7-liter HEMI VVT V8 engine with a Fuel Saver MD S. it can also run with 9.3 liters per 100 km with 30 mpg on the highway and 14.8 liters per 100 km in the city with 19 mpg.
