The rivalry between Mercedes F1 teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg is now more intense than ever after Rosberg dethrones the three-time world championship Hamilton and leads this F1 season. Fans are now excited to see their upcoming matchups and all eyes are now on the upcoming Malaysian Grand Prix happening this Sunday.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff seems to be happy with this rivalry as it's allowing both of his players to push each other to new heights. This rivalry is also making headlines in Formula One as the intensity makes fans enjoy the race. Now everybody's attention is on the Malaysian Grand Prix where Hamilton and Rosberg will battle it out in front of thousands.
"We saw Formula One at its best in Singapore. Just like in football, where you have good games and bad ones, this was a classic. I'm proud of the team for how we bounced back after last year and we take our hats off to Red Bull as they made it a huge battle too. Now we go to Malaysia and it will be another big weekend for my two boys." Wolff said.
Hamilton and Rosberg had battled it out on the race tracks for years. However, this is the first time that Lewis Hamilton is behind in points. While wins continue to pile up for Rosberg, the F1 season is not looking good for Hamilton as he hasn't got any 1st place yet. Though he always finished at the podium for all the race, this is not enough for some bashers, who blame his attitude and partying ways for his lost of focus. Now he hopes to stop Nico Rosberg streak at the Malaysia GP.
"I have no idea if the momentum will swing back to me or when it might. But we still have six races left, so I just have to keep giving it my all and hope for the best," Hamilton said.
Nicco Rosberg is on a streak after the F1 summer break, winning three consecutive races that have resulted in a 27-point swing in the standings. The German now has his greatest F1 season ever and holds the top place and the advantage over his Mercedes team-mate Hamilton. But Rosberg, a humble winner, downplayed his form and instead pointed out that he should not be comfortable with his lead.
Aside from his teammate, Red Bull's tandem of Daniel Ricciardo (who also has some great wins this seasos) and Max Verstappen (the sensational 17 year old F1 racer) as well as last year's winners of the Malaysian Grand Prix the Ferrari's tandem of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen are tough opponents that he should always watch out.
"I've had a good run lately and I'm enjoying the moment. But as far as the next race goes, or the next one after that and so on... it's anyone's game. Red Bull and Ferrari are both pushing us really hard, so there will be some tough weekends ahead. It's exciting for the fans and it pushes me even harder." Rosberg said.
