2018 Chevrolet Equinox Updates: Diesel Engine Feature Uncovered. Model Lighter Than Ever

In an attempt to redeem the SUV's make and model and make it more competitive, General Motors announced last Thursday that the brand new 2018 Chevrolet Equinox had been updated with high-end technological updates, better safety features, and labeled as the first compact crossover in the U.S. automobile market that has a diesel feature.

Although the Chevrolet Equinox was updated recently last year, sales report of the model showed that the vehicle needed more updates to become a more marketable product. To address this concern, the brand has revealed that it will offer the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox with a diesel engine feature.

Model Upgrades

As reported by Auto News, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has greater efficiency, has high-end technological features, and has a stronger architecture on top of its diesel engine feature. Buyers of the automobile have the option of purchasing either the 1.5-liter turbo, 2.0-liter turbo mated engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission, or the 1.6-liter turbo diesel capable of generating 40 mpg along the highway.

Furthermore, it will also be 400 pounds lighter than its predecessor. On top of that, it will also be four inches smaller which opened up to 3.5 cubic feet more of interior space.

It is also installed with active safety and adaptive crash-avoidance technological features including forward-collision alert, surround vision, following-distance indicator, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, low-speed forward automatic braking, a rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-change alert with side blind-zone alert. It also has a rear-seat reminder alert feature that would inform the driver of the passenger activity which will be advantageous if such passenger is a child.

Availability and Price Range

In other reports, Detroit News revealed that General Motors Co. will have the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox ready for purchase in 200 dealerships in the U.S. The announcement was made at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry last Thursday night.

Being Chevrolet's second best-selling automobile, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox will be available for purchase by early 2017 whose purchase value was lodged to at least $24,000 for the front-wheel drive version while the all-wheel drive model is valued at a purchase price of at least $28,000.
