The new Mercedes-Bez E-Class All Terrain is one big challenge for the station wagons Audi Allroad and Subaru Outback. This new model is not only made for driving - it's also made for competition.
The All-Terrain is taller than the Mercedes' 2017 E400, which Digitaltrends reports to be its model. Its air suspension can be set to three different ride heights. The car also features an off-road flavour through its additional body cladding.
The tires of the All-Terrain also have taller sidewalls to deliver on its dirt-driving credential. It also has black cladding over the wheel arches and the rocker panels to protect the car when running on rough terrain. It has the same twin-slat grille, which can be found on most Mercedes SUVs. Both bumpers are silver-trimmed.
The interior of the all-terrain is packed with unique features, according to Cnet. It's said that the inside boasts of stainless steel sport pedals with rubber studs, aluminum-carbon trim finishers, and elaborate mats with "All-Terrain" badging.
On its launch, the All-Terrain will have a 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that develops 194 horsepower at 3,800 rpm and 295 pound-feet of torque from 1,600 to 2,800 rpm, Digitaltrends reports. Mercedes has already confirmed that a more powerful six-cylinder model will be made available soon, but other technical details are not yet revealed.
The station wagon also has a built-in All-Terrain mode, which if turned on can let the motorist see key information about the vehicle. The high resolution screen built in the center console will display the slope and incline angles, steering angle and the travel direction. The air suspension will also automatically be raised on up to 20 mph speeds.
The All-Terrain will come to the European market by the end of the year. Unfortunately for American customers, there're no plans yet on the car coming to the US. However, Mercedes will put the tall station wagon on display for everyone during next week's Paris Auto Show.
