Jaguar's Range-Topping F-Pace SVR Will Have 500-Plus HP On Tap

There seems to be a new, even more powerful version of the Jaguar F-Pace in the making, one that's likely to have more than 500 horses on tap.

The onus on creating the new fire breathing version of the F-Pace is on the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division within Jaguar that specialises in just this kind of a role. A heavily disguised F-Pace test mule too was recently spotted undergoing high-speed trial runs at the Nurburgring circuit.

Also, while the guys at Jaguar's SVO seems to have done their bit in keeping a lid on the design changes that the new F-Pace will sport, there are a few aspects that are hard to miss. For instance, the air intakes appear larger than before while the front bumper has a more aggressive touch to it on the whole.

However, the changes being introduced by SVO will no doubt be deeper than that with the chassis suspension, as well as steering setup likely to be tinkered with to allow for a stable and pliant ride. Then again, the electronics too are likely to be upgraded while the car could also be riding on bigger tires as well, Carscoops speculated.

Also, it is likely Jaguar will have its 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine fitted on to the new F-Pace to provide for the enhanced power surge. Once that's done, a power rating in excess of 500 hp would be almost a certainty. An upgraded V6 churning out that many horses can't be ruled out either.

For reference, the supercharged V8 makes 550 hp in the F-Type R while the Range Rover Sport SVR too has the same engine tuned to deliver 542 bhp and 680 Nm of torque.

Choice of transmission could be the eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox which would be supplying power to all four wheels.

Once ready, the new F-Pace would be up against the likes of the Porsche Macan Turbo. Then there is also the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 in the making as is the Audi SQ5 or the BMW X3M all of which will pose a direct challenge to the new F-Pace.
