2020 BMW 8-Series Spotted In Latest Spy Photos; Impresses Fans With Simple, Sleek Design

The spy cams did it again! The 2020 BMW 8-series was reported to have been spotted on a test drive this week, which hinted that the German-based manufacturer may have a contingency plan to recover from the slow-selling 6-series. Furthermore, it was reported that the company had been working with an Italian design company to complete the project.

Since March of this year, BMW had hinted that they are to create flagship models that are more high-end for the coming years. Thankfully, a spy cam was able to uncover what the company had in mind when it revealed the creation of a flagship series.

Since 2013, it was revealed that BMW had been teaming up with the Italian design company, Gran Lusso Coupe. The spy shots showed that the collaboration of the automobile industry heavyweights were embodied in the brand new 2020 BMW 8 series.

The Specs

As reported by Motor Authority, the 2020 BMW 8-Series was the one that the company chose to upgrade instead of the slow-selling 6-series. The brand new models were deemed to have a lower roof and wide, muscular shoulders which were similar to how an Aston Martin DB9 looked like. It was also said to have a seat capacity of four.

It was suggested that the 2020 BMW 8 series models would be powered by a V-8 or V-13 engine that has M options which could be infused as "850," "M850," "860," and a possible "M8."

Furthermore, it was implicated that the models may have been created with a high-performance hybrid system feature known as the Power eDrive plug-in hybrid. The said system may have a turbocharged inline-4 that has a pair of electric motors that is able to yield a whopping 670 horsepower.

In other news, BMW Blog reported that with the latest improvements to the 2020 BMW 8 series, the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe may be phased out from production. The Gran Coupe segment was said to be installed into the upcoming BMW 5 series GT.

Thanks to the spy photos, the brand new 2020 BMW 8 series was revealed. The said model was reported to start production at the company's main plant in Dingolfing, Germany by 2019 and would possibly be featured as 2020 models.
