Underworld Blood Wars First Official Trailer Featuring Kate Beckinsale Released

The first trailer for the new film "Underworld: Blood Wars" has been released, and it sees Kate Beckinsale's Selene back in form and ready for action.

The fifth installment of the Underworld film series will see Beckinsale's character fending and facing off attacks coming from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire clan. The Vampire clan find Selene hard to trust while the Lycan clan have a new evil leader on their side, making her an outsider once more, according to Ace Showbiz.

"The vampire and Lycan clans have been at war for centuries, turning our world into a battlefield. For me, the fight is personal. Everyone I have ever loved has been hunted down. Now a new war is being waged," Selene says in a voiceover.

Together with David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), her only allies, Selena makes it her mission to stop the eternal war between the Vampires and the Lycans, even if it means she will have to sacrifice her life in doing so.

Based on the newly-released trailer, it seems that Selene's overall look hasn't seen much of a change, as she is still wearing her signature long trench coats and black cat suits. But she is sporting a different hair color, consisting of blonde highlights, according to Variety.

Another change in "Blood Wars" is that it has recruited a new director in the form of Anna Foerster, who is making her feature film debut. Additionally, the film was supposed to be a reboot of the franchise and Beckinsale was originally not slated to return.

Besides Beckinsale, James and Dance, Tobias Menzies also stars in the film as Marius, the new leader of the Lycans. "Underworld: Blood Wars" is scheduled to hit theaters around the United States on January 6, 2017, according to Comic Book.
