Peugeot 5008 Review: New 7-Seater SUV Gets Design Upgrade With Matching Specs And Features

The Paris Motor Show 2016 will host the world premiere of the new generation of Peugeot 5008 2017, a model that is trying to revolutionize the compact SUV segment with that mixture between minivan and SUV, now with much more of the latter. Let us look at the specs, interior space and more of the new Peugeot 5008.

Same Name, Very Different Face

Gone is the staid-looking seven-seat MPV of old, and in its place sits this seven-seat SUV. The new 5008 measures 4.64 m long. With a wheelbase of 2.84 m, it is 11 cm longer and 11 cm wider than the current model. It is also 19 cm longer than the new Peugeot 3008, all in order to provide sufficient space for 7 adult passengers.

Roomier Interior As The Best Advantage Of The 5008

If Peugeot speaks of a mix between MPV and SUV, it is on the interior that this can be seen. The second row of seats now offers 6 cm more space over the current model. The third row of seats is also formed by individual seats . They are all concealable and, in the case of the third-row seats, are removable to offer even more cargo space if necessary.

Cargo volume is another main advantage of the new Peugeot 5008 2017. The luggage compartment of the new Peugeot 5008 has 702 liters with the five - seat configuration and loaded up the tray. If we remove the two additional seats, its capacity increases to 780 liters.

Powerful Engine Mirrors an SUV

The new 5008 shares the same engine type with the Peugeot 3008 SUV, since the three are derived from the same EMP2 platform. The Engine uses gasoline 1.2 Puretech of 130 hp, with manual or automatic transmission, and the 1.6 THP of 165 hp, always with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Diesel starts with 1.6 BlueHDi 100 and 120 hp and ends with the 2.0 BlueHDi 150 and 180 hp in both manual and automatic gearboxes.

Top of the range equipment and driving aids

The 2017 Peugeot 5008 equipment include top-of-the-range technologies such as focal car audio system, panoramic sunroof, permanent connectivity with Mirror Screen function and 3D connected navigation with Tom Tom Traffic Aid. In terms of driving aids, the Advanced Grip Control (traction control that adapts its operation to weather and terrain conditions that will have previously selected) has been added.

e-Kick as an addition

Finally, the Peugeot 5008 can optionally be equipped with a folding electric scooter, e-Kick, or e-Bike EF01 that will be integrated into the boot. With this proposal equipment, Peugeot joins the movement of other manufacturers, such as Ford, who see beyond their future cars , but never stopped making Peugeot bicycles and scooters.

The new 5008 will be available in four lines: Active, Allure, GT Line and GT cap range and is set to reach distribution in spring of 2017. Meanwhile, here's the Peugeot 5008 to make us want the 5008 even more.
