Watch: Cyclist Overruns Group of Motorcyclists at 50 mph

A group of motorcycle riders was able to record on camera a cyclist speeding by them in a winding mountain road. The anonymous cyclist casually passed by not only one but three of the bikers at speeds of about 40 to 50 miles per hour. That's easily double the speed of an average rider.

On flat/even ground, a rider on a racing bike rides at around 17 miles per hour while a Tour de France pro racer rides at speeds of around 25 to 28 miles per hour.

The anonymous cyclist in the video proves to have showcased an impressive feat as his supposed speed during this ride is more than the speed Tour de France pro racers have to hit when they dash to the finish line. Professional road bicycle racer Andre Greipel had to hit 43.5 miles per hour in order to win in 2015.

In 1986, Jim Glover set the highest speed officially recorded for a bicycle ridden in a conventional position at 51.28 miles per hour over a 200-meter course. That record stands to this day.

In the close to three-minute video posted to LiveLeak, the motorcycle rider who recorded the feat can be heard getting excited about how fast the bicycle rider is going. He tried to get his pack in on what he's witnessing but his buddies naturally couldn't hear him through their roaring engines.

The cyclist's pedalling power seemed to have equalled the pack's engines, albeit for a few minutes. Now his speed and power may be difficult for the average person to match, but who knows?

With great resolve and adrenaline, you might be able to pull off something like that when you're running late for an important meeting. So go on, pack that bike in your car. You never know when you'll need it.
