Five Vintage Cars Stolen From A Southern Ontario Collector

Five vintage cars were stolen from a Souther Ontario collector since March. Authorities said that the culprit is still at large.

The latest victim is Shawn Marcoux, whom according to CBC News, lost his 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS with a 454 big block. Marcoux recalled his greatest moments with the vehicle.

"It would rank fourth in my life - I've got two kids and a wife," Marcoux said with a laugh. This is the fifth incident but there are still no links to the evidence. So far, here are the cars that were stolen:

  • March 4, from Effingham Street, Pelham: a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro.
  • April 20, from Regional Road 20, Smithville: a 1950 Buick Sedanette.
  • June 14, from Niagara River Parkway, Niagara Falls: a 1976 Chevrolet Corvette.
  • Aug. 4, from Hwy 20, Pelham: Marcoux's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle.
  • Somewhere between Aug. 19 and Aug. 24, from Speers Road, Oakville: a 1980 GMC Caballero.

According to Niagara Regional Police Det. Sgt. Thomas Manney, they are not investigating the case as of this moment. "There's no commonality to link any of these vehicles right now," Manney said.

On the other hand, Marcoux is heartbroken at the incident. However, he is still hopeful that his car will be returned somehow in the future.

"I guess deep down in my heart I hope it comes back somehow ... but three weeks on, it's kind of a longshot," he said. The vehicle cost around $30,000.

On the other hand, other victims are thinking the suspect hides all the stolen vintage cars. As per the Welland Tribune, owner of the '69 Camaro that was stolen back in March, Ed Wiens, stated that the culprit would not chop the classic models into pieces because they are just too valuable.

"They wouldn't strip that car. That car is very special and it's worth more when it's all complete," Wiens said. "That car is probably headed for parts unknown in one piece."

The story about the missing vintage cars is still developing.
