Daniel Ricciardo News: Driver Says Renault F1 Engine Can Beat Ferrari At F1 Racing This Year

Daniel Ricciardo revealed during an interview that the latest modifications to the Renault F1 engine enabled the team to be more competitive against the Ferrari cars this year.

Red Bull team has been performing really well during the 2016 Belgian Grand Prix as they bagged the third place at Spa Belgium. When asked about the team's stand during F1 racing, driver Daniel Ricciardo revealed that his team now has better chances at claiming the championship title, reported Auto Sport.

During an interview, Ricciardo said that earlier this year, they went to Melbourne without expectations with regards to how they would place in the race compared to their high hopes during last year's race. However, since there had been modifications applied to the Renault F1 engine, Ricciardo manifested that they have more horsepower which could drive them all the way up to the top.

He also revealed that their car chassis had been improving and that it has been a smooth ride for the cars this year. In fact, he said that they are more than compatible racing the Ferrari engine this year and improvements in the race may continue for the team.

Speed Improvements

As was revealed, the Mercedes cars still dominate the game at 319.8 kph. The Ferrari is at second rank with 317.9 kph while the Renault is not far behind with 316 kph. Trailing behind is Honda with 309.7 kph.

As Daniel Ricciardo put it, they will be able to overtake Ferrari if the improvements will continue and if the drivers would be able to take as much as they can during the race.

In other news, News.CoM.Au reported that Mark Webber was not happy about how Daniel Ricciardo behaved during the Belgian Grand Prix awarding ceremony.

Ricciardo wanted to replace the mic Webber was holding with his shoes where he put champagne in. In fact, he asked Webber to drink the champagne from the shoe.

When asked about his reaction to the gesture, Webber said "(It was) not very nice. Look, I knew. When Daniel was up there I knew I will probably be under pressure to do a shoey."

Despite the hilarious or unkind gesture Daniel Ricciardo showed during the Belgian Grand Prix awarding ceremony, joking aside, the driver sees a brighter future for his team in future races to come.
