The 2017 Porsche 911 Targa GTS is the latest to get the 991.2 treatment with a test mule sporting the said upgrade recently been spotted being put through the paces in Southern Spain.

Best of all, there is not even a wee bit of camouflage anywhere to be seen on the test mule. That makes it a rarity given that manufacturers resort to all camouflaging tactics to keep the suspense going till the official launch day.

As such, the changes that catch the eye immediately with the upcoming Targa include a new front bumper with more aggressive cut out, CarScoop reported. Then there are some minor changes introduced in rear around the exhaust outlet as well.

The Targa GTS test mule has also been found donning black Targa bar, which according to AutoEvolution harks back to the 60s, or more specifically the Porsche Tagra in 1968. The same had continued till the 90s with the 964 Targa of 1990 too getting the black roof. However, the same came to be replaced with a glass roof starting the 993 gen Targa.

Overall, there is nothing substantial with the new Targa so far as the exterior is concerned though there is likely some under-the-hood changes to be introduced. According to Motor1, there is going to be a new 3.0-liter biturbo flat six to be plonked under the hood. There is no surety of the engine's precise rating though a power output of 450 hp seems likely.

As for the launch schedule of the new revamped Targa, there is nothing known to any degree of surety though there sure are a few pointers we can rely on. For instance, the new 2017 Targa has been undergoing tests for some time now, which means it could be ready for prime time action after all.

Then there also is the 2017 Porsche Panamera that is due to be launched on October 1 during the Paris Moto Show and could well serve as the perfect place for launching the new Targa as well.
